TeXShop is distributed under the GPL public license, and thus free. Both of these versions are available on this site. When navigating the completion list, a brief description is shown for the selected item. Latexian includes Code Completion for LaTeX and BibTeX documents. The PDF preview appears in a split pane and updates automatically. Users with systems 10.2 or 10.3 should use TeXShop 1.43, and users with systems 10.0 and 10.1 should use TeXShop 1.19. Live Preview allows you to see how your document typesets while you are editing. An earlier version of TeXShop, version 2, is also maintained and requires System 10.4 (Tiger), although System 10.5 (Leopard) is strongly recommended because it fixes several important bugs in Apple's PDFKit code, extensively used in TeXShop. These programs output pdf les rather than dvi les. The program usually typesets using pdftex or pdatex instead of tex or latex. The latest TeXShop release, version 3, requires System 10.7 (Lion). TeXShop is a Mac OS X program which can typeset TeX and LaTeX les and preview the output on the screen. The most recent version of this distribution is maintained for the Mac by the MacTeX TeXnical Working Group of the TeX Users Group and available under the "Obtaining" tab. The distribution includes tex, latex, dvips, tex fonts, cyrillic fonts, and virtually all other programs and supporting files commonly used in the TeX world. TeXShop uses TeX Live, a standard distribution of Tex programs maintained by the TeX Users Group (TUG) for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, and various other Unix machines. Since PDF is a native file format on OS X, TeXShop uses "pdftex" and "pdflatex" rather than "tex" and "latex" to typeset these programs in the standard teTeX distribution of TeX produce PDF output instead of DVI output. I also unchecked "Editor Can Add Brackets" in TeXShop Preferences under the Editor tab.TeXShop is a TeX previewer for OS X, written in Cocoa. TeXShop will add, as the first line in the document, TEX TS-program XeLaTeX. Choose the XeLaTeX line by clicking on it. The OgreKit panel remains the default in Japan. If your document to be compiled with XeLaTeX is in the front window, go to the Macros menu and select Program. This method is used by more and more programs like Safari, TextEdit, and Word, and users have come to expect it. The default Find method is now the Apple Find Bar. However, after typesetting in TeXShop, an updated pdf document is still displayed using Preview. I followed the steps suggested by Corndog5595 to change the default from Preview to Adobe Acrobat. I used this opportunity to change two default items in TeXShop Preferences. Since the pdf document I created often crashes Sierra, I would like to set the default viewer to Adobe Acrobat. You still have the old one, renamed, if you prefer your version to mine. When TeXShop restarts, it will create a new ist. Then go to ~/Library/TeXShop/Themes and rename ist to something else, perhaps ist. I've been using Dark Mode more and more and changed the default coloring scheme for that mode."Find and Replace" is not available because the console text is not editable. Use the arrow keys to move from item to item. Activate the main text by clicking in it, and then type command-F. It provides a source editor, a preview window to display pdf files. The Apple Find Bar now works in the console. TeXShop is a front end to TeX on the Macintosh.Kirchhof fixed this, and improved the code to handle another tricky edge case. Apple optimized his code out of existence. But in fact his code was present and worked when TeXShop was run inside XCode, but did nothing when TeXShop was compiled to become a stand-alone program. Possible, since I've been switching between Mojave and Catalina. Shortly after 4.43 appeared, he wrote to complain that his new code had been removed. In version 4.35 of TeXShop, Jörg Christian Kirchhof improved the TeXShop "HardWrap" command so it correctly handled comment lines.
